I feared going to this area of Mexico because of it's reputation for being a party place for Spring Breakers but we found the perfect beach hotel:
Paamul Hotel and Cabanas. A beautiful beach, excellent restaurant, relaxing pool and very close to the cenotes and ruins we wanted to explore. We got to know the chef Kulo, who outdid himself with every meal (and he's a great photographer). One of the coolest things, I felt, was the fact that locals came to the beach and ate at the restaurant. I could have stayed many more days. Winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2013.
